ABOUT

I am a documentary artist from Bristol, UK. My research-based practice uses photography, moving image, audio, text, GIS mapping and archive, and focuses on how power is inscribed into landscapes, with a specific focus on borders, and flows of people and capital. I am interested in where these flows experience resistance, where they slow down, and ultimately how these turbulent flows inflect themselves on the lives of people and communities.

I am currently based between New York City and London.

Nathaniel has worked internationally, recently exhibiting his work Routes at the Musee de l'Elysee in Lausanne, Switzerland, as a part of their ReGeneration4 programme, and at the Noorderlicht photography festival in the Netherlands,

In 2019 he received the Mead Fellowship Award in order to fund the production of a new piece of work. The project, A Line in the Water is, after a significant Covid delay, currently in progress and due for release at the end of 2022.

He will also be exhibiting work in response to the annual
Gerbrands Lecture delivered by Jason de Léon at the Recearch Centre for Material Culture in the Netherlands. The work will be a par of a workshop in collaboration with students at the KABK.

In 2018 he graduated with distinction from the MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography at London College of Communication.
